With your help and funding, we want to turn the Bridledown site into a centre of excellence for the promotion of responsible pet ownership, offering support and advice to the dog owners (and dog lovers) in the community.
The Way Forward
These dogs only have us – please help us to help them.
With your help and support, we want to build on our experience and take the services we offer onto the next level and beyond.
Once we have secured the appropriate funding we will rehome our dogs with the following:
·
Vaccinations
· Micro-chipped
· Neutered
· Home Checked
· ID Tagged
· Health Checked
We will aim to offer everyone:
·
Training
· Seminars
· Hydrotherapy
The Redevelopment of Bridledown
·
New kennel blocks – we need to update, expand and build new
state-of-the-art kennels blocks, we hope to eventually be able to look after
up to 100 dogs. When funding is in place we will be publishing architects
drawings and plans of the re-developed site on this website.
· Reception & consultation facility –
we are looking to update the front building to raise the quality of our
service. The reception area will be networked into the main operation with
computers, so that we can work more efficiently and can be in the front
building throughout our opening hours. We are also looking to incorporate
into this building consultation rooms, where our experienced staff can help
prospective new owners choose a pet that will best fit in with their situation.
· Indoor Arena – we will be looking to expand
existing buildings to incorporate a large indoor arena where we can hold
training sessions, shows, events and seminars.
· Isolation areas – due to the nature of taking
on the care of strays, we will occasionally be required to hold a dog in
complete isolation to avoid any cross contamination, again we are looking
to install new state-of-the-art isolation units where we can offer the dog
a comfortable stay, whilst maintaining the health and well being of the
other dogs in our care.
· Veterinary treatment facility – we want
to get to the point where every dog that comes into us is given a health
check, micro-chipped, vaccinated and neutered, therefore it would be advantageous
to have our own veterinary treatment facility.
· Grooming rooms – with so many dogs going
through our doors it would be nice to be able to offer a grooming service,
both to the dogs in our care and to those in the wider community that could
do with a bit of smartening up, all the way up to those dogs who are competing
at the top level of conformation classes. It would also be nice to have
the facilities to be able to bath and groom every dog that was about to
leave our care, and embark on their new life.
· Exercise paddocks – where prospective new
owners and the dogs can get to know each other a little better off the lead
in complete safety away from any dangers.
· Shop – we are looking to incorporate a pet
shop in the front building, where we can sell good quality pet related products,
initially starting with basics such as collars, leads, beds, bowls and food
and expanding the product range as the site grows.
· Hydrotherapy – to become a centre of excellence
we must embrace new treatments. Hydrotherapy has been proven to help aid
recovery in the treatment of dogs and we would love to be a part of this.
· Café – as the site grows we hope
to become an integral part of the dog owning community, as such we will
be welcoming people onto the site to enjoy the facilities, and refreshments
will be a part of this. We are initially looking to offer hot and cold drinks
and light snacks for those waiting for appointments etc. but as our vision
progresses, so the café will grow too.
