Volunteer Application Form


All volunteers need to be passionate about our cause, as well as trustworthy, hard working, able to work un-supervised and happy to work with, and around, animals as well as people, and as always it is of utmost importance to us that our dogs will need to feel happy around you too.

Job Title: Home Checker


Purpose: The position of Home Checker supports Chancepixies mission to responsibly re-home previously unwanted and abandoned animals in need of a permanent, loving new home. Every Home Checker represents Chancepixies to the public in their own homes at the convenience of both Home Checker and potential new owner.
Location: Home Checkers are asked to inform Chancepixies of the areas throughout which they would be willing to carry out Home Checks, usually within a radius of their own homes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Home Checkers are required to visit potential new owners homes
• Check for the suitability of the house and garden to ensure the safety of the animal and new owner.
Reports to: Head of re-homing at Chancepixies Animal Rescue
Time Commitment: Very flexible, most home checks will take under ½ an hour, plus travelling time. You will be contacted by Chancepixies when a potential new home in your catchment has been found and a mutually convenient time and day is arranged between the Home Checker and new owner.
Qualifications: Trustworthy, pleasant manner, polite, dependability, own transport.
Support: Written guidelines for this position are given and details of the animals’ specific requirements will be given to the Home Checker either via email or telephone on acceptance of each appointment.
Dress code: Smart casual

Job Title: Foster Family


Purpose: Foster family’s support Chancepixies aim to rescue and care for the animals in their care. To provide a temporary, safe home environment. This role enables us to save more dogs and also helps us to see how the dog is a home environment and better assess the type of home that will suit them. Fostering a dog means bringing the dog into your own home to help prepare them for rehoming. This responsibility will include assessing their character, their ability to cope with everyday situations and their general temperament. Fosterers will be responsible for providing a safe, secure home and will be working alongside Chancepixies Animal Rescue helping us to ensure that the most suitable new home is found.
Key responsibilities:
• To provide compassionate care for the animal for as long as required until the animal has been successfully placed in a permanent home.
• To be prepared to work with the animal on basic training (i.e. house training)
• To ensure the safety and well being of the animal at all times
• To work closely with Chancepixies to help ensure that the animals next home is a loving, permanent one.
• To abide by the rules and guidelines as set down in the Foster Contract
Reports to: Head of re-homing at Chancepixies Animal Rescue
Time commitment: Entirely dependent on the needs and requirements of each animal. Where possible, we like to have animals recuperating from operations in a home environment, this can be for as little as one week. Some foster placements can be for many months before a suitable forever home is found.
Qualifications: Experience of living with animals is essential, patience, understanding, natural rapport with animals.
Support: All efforts will be made by Chancepixies to ensure that the animal placed with you is suitable for your environment and lifestyle. A member of Chancepixies will be on hand at any time to offer help, advice and support. Chancepixies will always be available to take back an animal if it proves unsuitable and will also offer a boarding facility when required (i.e. holidays or illness)

Job Title: Day Chair


Purpose: Serves as receptionist for Chancepixies Animal Rescue supporting Chancepixies aim to be a centre of excellence for re-homing, support and advice regarding animals within the community. The Day Chair represents the charity to the public who visit the charity’s premises Monday to Friday from 12pm – 3pm.
Location: The Day Chair works in the public reception building of the charity’s premises at Chancepixies, Gravel Lane, West Hougham, Kent CT15 7AG
Key Responsibilities:
• To answer the phone, advise where necessary and pass on messages to relevant persons within Chancepixies.
• Greets guests
• Answers questions about the charity and provides forms when necessary
• Assists in the re-homing of animals at the centre.
• Advises of activities or events taking place at the premises or on the charity’s behalf.
• Records donations that come in and the takes the details of the donor for inclusion in the database
• Helps prepare bulk mailings
• Other duties as assigned
Reports to: Kennels manager at Chancepixies Animal Rescue.
Time Commitment: Any week day (Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri) for 3 hours (12pm – 3pm)
Qualifications: Basic knowledge of computer and data entry, rapport with animals, good phone manner, polite, patience, dependability.
Support: Training for this position will be provided. In addition the Kennels manager and/or head of re-homing will be on hand for questions and assistance.
Dress Code: Smart Casual.


Job Title: Administration


Purpose: To help with general administrative duties to support the advancement of Chancepixies aims to educate, rescue and take action to halt the stray, unwanted and abandoned animal population in the UK
Location: Many of these duties could be completed at your own home.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ability in most software applications
• Able to meet deadlines
• Confidentiality
Reports to: Kennels Manager at Chancepixies Animal Rescue
Time Commitment: Flexible as most work will be able to be carried out off site and will have a deadline which will be clear from the commencement of any administrative roles.
Qualifications: Competent in most software applications, patience, problem solving ability, dependability.
Support: Kennel manager will be available for questions and assistance.

Job Title: Cafe


Purpose: To have a welcoming, warm atmosphere in the reception area where people can meet and spend time on the premises, supporting the charities mission to educate the public on the solution to the stray, abandoned and unwanted dog population in the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
• Preparation and distribution of refreshments (hot and cold)
• Cash handling
• Communication with customers
• Baking
Reports to: Kennels Manager at Chancepixies Animal Rescue
Time Commitment: One or two days per week 12pm -3pm Monday to Friday
Qualifications: Food Hygiene Certificate, communication skills, pleasant manner, dependability, trustworthy.
Support: Food Hygiene Certificate can be obtained on site. Kennel Manager will be available for questions and assistance.
Dress Code: Smart Casual.

Job Title: Event Assistant


Purpose:
To help plan, co-ordinate and effect any event at, or on behalf of, Chancepixies Animal Rescue to support the charity’s aims and object by raising essential funds.
Location: Event Assistants can work from home, on location or at Chancepixies premises dependant on event description.

• Event concept
• Co-ordination of volunteers
• Development of supporters (both public and commercial)
• Advertising
• Media
• Budget
• Venue selection
Reports to: Founders of Chancepixies Animal Rescue
Time Commitment: Variable, dependant on event.
Qualifications: Dependability, peasant manner, telephone skills, experience in event planning, problem solving ability.
Support: Kennel manager will be available for questions and assistance, volunteers, staff.

Job Title: PR/Advertising


Purpose: To expand the community knowledge and support of Chancepixies Animal Rescue both locally and nationally, supporting the charity’s aim to not only rescue and re-home, but also to solve the problem of Britain’s unwanted and abandoned animal population at source.
Location: Work from home, on location or from Chancepixies premises dependant on project
Key Responsibilities:
• Development and execution of Press Releases and Media Alerts
• Development of advertising opportunities
• Developing relationship with press and media
Reports to: Founders of Chancepixies Animal Rescue
Qualifications: Good writing and language skills, familiar with various software, experience in compiling press releases/media alerts, pleasant manner and experience of dealing with the media.
Support: Founders and kennel manager will be available for questions and assistance.

Job Title: Dog Walker


Purpose: To maintain the welfare standards of dogs in the care of Chancepixies, supporting the charity’s aim to rescue and re-home dogs.
Location: Chancepixies Animal Rescue exercise areas at Gravel Lane, West Hougham, Dover, Kent
Key Responsibilities:
• Spend time interacting with each dog
• Groom each dog
• Keep the dog and others safe whilst exercising
• Clean up after the dog
Reports to: Kennel Manager at Chancepixies Animal Rescue
Time Commitment: One day per week from 9am to 12pm
Qualifications: Training will be given, natural rapport with dogs, dependability, patience, pleasant manner.
Support: Kennel Manager will be available for questions and assistance.
Dress Code: Casual, appropriate to weather conditions and the exercising of dogs

Job Title: Kennel Maid


Purpose: To maintain and raise the standard of cleaning, giving the dogs in the charity’s care the best environment possible from which to be re-homed. Supporting Chancepixies in their aim to provide rescue spaces to dogs in need of assistance.
Location: Chancepixies Animal Rescue, Gravel Lane, West Hougham, Kent
Key Responsibilities:
• To ensure that each kennel is properly cleaned
• To maintain and raise standard of hygiene
• Ensure adequate and suitable bedding
Reports to: Kennel Manager at Chancepixies Animal Rescue
Time Commitment: Any day from 9am to 12pm Mon - Sat, 8am to 10am Sunday
Qualifications: Training will be given, natural rapport with dogs, dependability, patience, pleasant manner.
Support: Kennel Manager will be working alongside and on hand for questions or assistance, other volunteers may also be helping in this field.
Dress Code: Casual, waterproof footwear, appropriate to weather conditions.
